Dear Sir:
______ the honour of acknowledging your communication of the 12th _______ informing me of my election as an Honorary member of the Union Society of Hampden Sidney College.
Be(?) pleased to present my thanks to the members of the Union Society of Hampden Sidney College, individually as well as collectively, for this expression of their great kindness and consideration, and assure the Society that it will afford me the greatest pleasure to ____ it -- May your Society live long and prosper --
